How AI Changes What You Will Be Doing at Work

To consider artificial intelligence (AI) as just another tool completely misses the point.

It invites us to transform our mindset and view of work and expertise.

One area where this applies is what you could call the 70-30 rule.

One of AI’s core abilities is to change how many tasks are performed. Some that used to be time-consuming can be automated. Others can be solved much more effectively.

AI can help you complete 70% of a task much faster.

This shift means we can better focus human resources - especially those of expensive experts. They can spend more time and energy on the most complex and valuable 30% of tasks where human insight and creativity really come into their own.

This change in task distribution can potentially lead to huge gains in efficiency and innovation across organisations. But such a transformation does not happen by itself.

Investing in training is critical to harnessing AI's full potential and avoiding the trap of generic or irrelevant output. Employees at all levels must learn not only to use AI tools effectively but also to understand when and how human intervention creates the most value.

It's not just about using AI as an advanced spreadsheet; it's about integrating the technology into our work processes to enhance our natural abilities and free us to focus on what humans do best: thinking creatively and solving complex problems.
